The Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District has a wealth of information on the Middleton School system. Located in the heart of south central Wisconsin and neighboring the Capital City of Madison, the Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District provides quality education for approximately 6,000 students in six elementary schools, two middle schools, one high school and an alternative high school.

The Mission of the Middleton-Cross Plains school district is as follows:

To educate all students to be contributing members of a global society by inspiring them with a lifelong love of learning, challenging them with rigorous curriculum, and empowering them with 21st century skills.

This is an honorable mission statement. A great goal for our students to aspire to within our communities in society.

The District encompasses 68 square miles, ranging from urban to rural areas, and has an estimated 28,300 residents in eight municipalities. The growth and expansion is among the best in the nation.

The District provides quality education to an estimated 5,800 students. There are six schools in the District, elementary schools with K-5 and an all-day kindergarten. Two middle schools 6-8 and one high schools 9-12. The District also includes an alternative high school.

Programs are also provided for students with special educational needs, those who do well in an alternative environment, those interest in pursuing real-life work experiences through internships, and gifted/talented students.

Middleton-Cross Plains District students consistently outperform state and national averages in ACT, SAT and state tests and rank in the top 1% in state tests. In a three-year average of scores on the Wisconsin Knowledge and Concepts Exam, Middleton students ranked in the top 3 among area districts in all subject areas tested.

There are three levels of schools within the Middleton-Cross Plains District:

1.) Elementary Schools

2.) Middle Schools

3.) High School

If you’re interested in touring any of these schools, please call the school office and make arrangements. The building principals are always happy to show you around the schools and introduce you to the faculty.

In accordance with the Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District’s Admission Policy, any child who physically resides in the District for a purpose other than school attendance may be considered a resident student and may be eligible for tuition-free admission to the District’s schools.
